The children being removed from Texas polygamist compound was the right thing for Child Protective Services to do. There was enough evidence that abuse was going on in the compound. Very young girls are spiritually married to older men and expected to have marital relations with them. How can a child as young as 12 or 13 make a decision to be married? They still want to play with dolls and play house at that age. They are not ready for a committed relationship and having their own children at that young age. They need time to have fun and grow up first then later in life, fall in love and get married. I am sure then they would not choose the older men, they would choose the guys their own age. The sect banishes young boys out of the compound for small mistakes like wearing short sleeves, flirting with the girls, or listening to music so the old men can have the young girls for marriage. That is ridiculous! Where are the young boys supposed to go? Who takes care of them after they are kicked out? This is a very sad situation.
Children need to be loved and cared for. They need to be accepted. They need to figure out who they are before they are married. These parents need to wise up and get out of this horrible situation. Maybe some of the mothers that are with the children that are out of the compound will wise-up and realize how awful it really is and will remove themselves from that so called religion.

I wonder what will happen to those little kids? I hope that they will be protected!
Sarah, you are wise beyond your years. Very good observations.
You're right. I know a lot of 18 and 21 year old that aren't mature enough for marriage. Kids usually grow up too fast anyway. So let kids be kids. It is a shame, that the state has to step in but what else could they do?
I am glad that the court system is handling it. I am sure its hard on the poor litle kids but they have to be protected.
