The government needs to learn basic economics!

Basic economics is an important thing to know and honestly I believe politicians have no idea what it is. Politicians believe they have to get involved in everything in our life. They believe if there is a slump in the economy it is their duty to fix it. When in reality if they would stay out of it would fix its self. The most recent example of this is Bush’s tax incentive check. Each family can receive up to $1,200 back of their taxes or someone else’s. What they want to happen is families immediately spend that money and they are hoping it sends the economy out of a recession. Sounds good, right? WRONG! The money that is being sent back to your family is already in the economy. It’s already been spent and used, and it will do no good. I recently read an analogy about it. It said it’s like taking water out of the deep end of the pool and dumping it into the shallow end. It does no good it just shifts the water around.

Another example is how much the government is taking away from entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs are vital to our economy. They make jobs and put more money into the economy. Our government is making it hard for them to go into business. They place many rules and regulations on them. They make them pay many fines and taxes. It gives entrepreneurs less incentive to start business and more risk. The government thinks we average Americans need to be protected. The food needs to be safe, the building needs to be safe, and so many other things. In reality, if the government would stay out we would regulate it our self. If the business isn’t good then we won’t buy their good or product and it will go out of business. Businesses have to keep us happy in order to stay in business; so all these rules and regulations placed on them are unnecessary and in the end hurt our economy.

Basic economics is an important thing to learn. Each politician should have to take a course in it before they can get into government.

The economic incentive check does sound like a wonderful thing but like you said its just tax payers $ anyways. The problem is that my mom didn't work last year because she was going to college so she won't receive that incentive!

The part about regulations and laws to protect people I think should be there to help us! We need those laws to make sure people don't die from products made by companies. I wouldn't want my family member dying from a product. They have that there for a reason.

A class on economics for anyone and everyone in government is a good idea, though!

Well, Renee what you aren't understanding is that bussinesses wouldn't make a product you can die from. They are trying to make a porfit. And by inviting something that could kill you they wouldn't be able to make a profit off that. No one would by it. the econmy requlates itself. And the point was the blog was that there are too many pointless requlations that are driving Enterpuners out to other countries so they can actaully make a profit.

The economic incentive check is an incentive to me to buy a few things I went without this year. The government (which is still the best in the world even in an election year)didn't have to return it to me....or you if you worked last year too....so I'm at the shallow end of the pool and glad for the extra bucket!
